Only took about 30min to pull. Time to clean, port and polish, and rebuild.

Ford 300?

Sure is!

I have dreams of making a twin-turbo Ford 240 long-rod motor with twin turbos and a high-RPM cam. Easily one of the best / largest inline-6s ever made.

I am working on slapping a turbo on the side of this one. Just a few more things to work out. But not too much longer and it will have air forced into it.
My dream for this engine is to destroke it a bit so it will rev more, put some LS1 heads together(like this picture, https://38.media.tumblr.com/1c41c6068ff0b1… ), and then up the boost a good bit.

Does the 240 crank/rods/rotating assembly work with the 300 block?
Also, are you going EFI then, or doing a blow-through setup? Is turbo lag going to be a big problem with something this large?

Yeah, the 240 crank, rods, and pistons will fit in the earlier 300 blocks. I will be keeping it carbed, and with a T3/T4 low AR ratio turbo I don't expect there to be too much lag. I am not going to be looking for anything crazy out of it, more of just a "look at this shit" sort of thing.

Here's some inspiration for you.

Good lord I wish I could get my hands on a Barra 4.0L!!

Any idea what USA Ford engine they are based on and what the difference is from their USA counterparts?
P.S. I saw this one on YT that supposedly makes 1600+ HP. These things are insane!

Unfortunately we did not get any version of the Barra here in the states. We got shafted on that engine, it is a great inline 6.

Too bad. I thought it might be an improved version of of one of the USA engines.

Nope, if that was the case I would probably already have one in my F100. I had been looking at getting one imported but then you have to worry about not having parts available and all that mess.

Maybe research exactly what the differences are and see if they can be applied to a readily available engine instead?

The only problem is the last I6 Ford sold here in the states is the 300, the one I have, and even in the later years when it was EFI it is so crazy different from the Barra that is does not matter. And that is why after I have my fun with this 300 my old Ford is going to piss some people off because I will be putting a 4.2L Chevy I6 in it, but it is a great I6 as well that takes to a turbo pretty easy.

Why not just turbo the 300? IIRC, they use basically the same pistons as the 302 V8, those and some forged rods and crank should yield enough strength for a goodly amount of boost.

that is actually what I am working on now. It will stay a turbo 300 for a few years.

I see, good luck with it.
